What a time we’re presently experiencing! I know a dozens of friends or clients that have been transitioned from working in an office to working from home. They all have a different experience. Some were sent home with a laptop and a headset. Zoom meetings are new to many.

I’ve been working from home for over 15 years. It took about a year to build the self-discipline necessary to be successful. And, there were many benefits. Less time spent with office politics. A bit more flexibility with my schedule. Need to take one of my kids to the doctor or the dentist? No one to ask for time off…just go and plan on working late to finish the work.

Many of the people I work with each month have transitioned to working from home in the last few weeks. We’ve talked on zoom a few times and the work continues to flow. Last week I voiced a documentary for a television network with the producer guiding me on her laptop and a video stream so I could see the program I was narrating. It flowed perfectly! A few have commented that they hope to be able to work from home more often, or permanently transition to working from home. Can you imagine this happening in the 80’s or early 90’s? Many more people would be unemployed. We can be thankful for the internet and the ability it gives many of us to continue working.
